Salvation

The pathway to a life that pleases God and brings happiness and fulfillment has three basic steps…

  1.  First, we must ADMIT that we have sinned. The Bible states that “All have sinned; all fall short" of God’s glorious standard (Romans 3:23). We need to acknowledge this personally. We have not and cannot please God through our own good works: “Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it.” (Ephesians 2:9.) Jesus stated that we must “turn from our sins and turn to God.” (Matthew 4:17.) “Repent” means to “turn away” and “renounce” our iniquity.
  2.  Second, we must BELIEVE that Jesus Christ died to forgive our sins and give us a life filled with meaning and joy. The Bible says, “For if you believe in your heart that God raised him [Jesus] from the dead, you will be saved.” (Romans 10:9.)
  3.  Third, we must COMMIT our lives entirely to Jesus Christ as our Lord. Third, we must commit our lives entirely to Jesus Christ as our Lord. In the Bible, we read, “If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord…you will be saved.” (Romans 10:9.) So we are to “believe” to the point of “commitment.”
